Hope and Passion Exhibition by Stirling Photography Festival

As a community led project the Stirling Photography Festival is delighted to be partnering with The Smith Art Gallery and Museum again this year. August’s festival of events covered topics as diverse as The History of Shopping in Stirling, Landscape and Wildlife Photography, Food Photography and fun workshops for children. The Smith was the perfect setting for a fabulous talk with two photographers, Ian Macilwain and Neal Gruer, who shared their love of Romania in words and pictures. This year we also partnered with Stills of Edinburgh, Street Level of Glasgow and the Travelling Gallery, bringing new contributors and exhibitions to Stirling as part of the Festival.

This year’s Festival celebrates Hope and Passion – a theme chosen by our team of volunteers to inspire discussion at our events and submissions to our public exhibition. We are delighted the theme has produced a wonderfully varied collection of work from artists of all interests and experience levels, and from all corners of the country. As a community festival our aim is to be accessible and inclusive and our public exhibition is a great opportunity to get lots of people involved. We have 82 exhibitors participating at six venues across the city including here at the Smith, the Tolbooth, Loving Food, Made in Stirling, Unorthodox Roasters and at the Macrobert Arts Centre. The exhibition will also be shared on line so that it can be enjoyed by the widest possible audience.
