In 2024 The Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum turns 150 years old. Over the next year, we will be celebrating 150 years of serving Stirling and surrounding areas as a gallery, museum, and cultural centre. This of course, this invites the question of ‘what will the next 150 years look like?’
To help us picture the next chapter of The Smith, we have asked for assistance from Forth Valley College BA Art and Design students. They have transformed Gallery 1 into an active art space and invite you to get creative. Use this space to tell us what you think a modern museum should look like. What stories should The Smith tell its 21st-century audiences? What events would you like to see at your local museum?
