Friends of the Smith Lecture – Scottish National Art Collection by Lesley Fraser

Many visitors to Edinburgh will be familiar with the Scottish National Gallery on the Mound, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery on Queen Street and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art on Belford Road. These buildings house the art collection which belongs to all of us in Scotland. But what is a national art collection and how did all these priceless works of art come to be in a public gallery?

Lesley Fraser, art historian and teaching fellow at the University of Edinburgh, will talk about the history and development of our national art collection and the beautiful buildings which house them.

Talk starts 7.30pm, doors open at 7pm

Tickets at the door £5 (£4 for Friends), includes tea/coffee and biscuits

Talk organised by the Friends of the Smith, in support of the Stirling Smith
